A deputy was involved in a shooting in the East County community of La Presa Friday, and officials asked members of the community to avoid the area while they investigate.
The shooting occurred on Leland Street east of state Route 125, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, around 5:25 p.m.
There was no immediate danger to the community, sheriffs officials said.
Investigators asked drivers on the road to temporarily find alternate travel routes.
San Diego police are investigating the shooting under a countywide protocol designed to keep departments from investigating shootings involving their own officers.
No other information was immediately available.
