Re Larry Turner concedes San Diego mayoral race to Mayor Todd Gloria (Nov. 13): I share the disappointment of the hundreds of thousands of Larry Turner supporters who voted for integrity and accountability. As Mr. Turner rightly noted in his concession statement, “Nearly half of this city voted for change and my hope for San Diego is that this is a wake-up call to current leadership that San Diegans deserve strong, competent and transparent leadership that is not beholden to special interests.”

Much was written about the unsolicited $1 million donation to the Lincoln Club, allegedly to help Mr. Turner, which panicked his opponent. I can’t help but wonder if the incumbent didn’t resort to another campaign funding scheme, such as was connected to Midway Rising, which will eventually be revealed.
