Solana Beach will host two holiday tree lightings in early December, followed by the return of Santa riding through the streets with fire, sheriff and marine safety personnel, the city announced.
The first tree-lighting ceremony will be on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4:30 p.m. in Fletcher Cove Park, followed by Santa’s first appearance in the city with a firetruck escort at 5:20 p.m. The event will have music, cookies and other refreshments, according to the city.
Santa will take another ride around town later that week on Dec. 13, starting at 2:30 p.m. He will depart from the Solana Beach fire station at 500 Lomas Santa Fe Drive and ride along the shore before heading east and ending back at the fire station.
La Colonia Park will have its own holiday tree lighting on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m., including another appearance by Santa at 5:20 p.m., with refreshments including Mexican hot cocoa and traditional holiday aguinaldos treat bags for children.
The Solana Beach fire station will also be accepting toy donations through Dec. 14.
“The toy drive benefits Camp Pendleton Marine Corp families in need of a little extra help,” according to a city announcement. “Through this program parents are able to pick out special toys for their children. These toys make a tremendous difference in the lives of the children and families that receive them. The community is welcome to drop off new unwrapped toys in the festively decorated bins located outside of the fire station garages.”
