I voted, and along with integrity, honesty and evidence-based policy, climate change was a priority issue for me. 2024 was another in a series of hottest years measured. Disasters mount, social instability and mass migration follow.
“Drill baby drill is not the answer. It is anachronistic, harmful sloganism. These companies are already heavily subsidized, have massive reserves and make more money than ever before, while there is more renewable energy waiting for a permit to add to the grid than there is energy currently on the grid. Permitting reform, grid upgrades, carbon pricing, as other countries do and plan, need attention. Hold the line on the Inflation Reduction Act incentives.
I ask all citizens to engage, to urge current lawmakers to do as much as they can while they are in office, and to urge new lawmakers to make this a priority when they take office in January. Action over paralysis!
