High school sports were in full action in the past week, with The Bishop’s School, La Jolla High and La Jolla Country Day seeing mixed results in the second-to-last week of the regular season of football, boys water polo and girls field hockey.

Here’s a recap of all the results.

Football

Bishop’s 70, Orange Glen 0

The Knights hosted Orange Glen for Bishops Senior Night on Oct. 26 having won their past four games, including a victory over crosstown rival Country Day the week before.

The result was an overwhelming defeat of the winless Patriots. Bishops dominated on both offense and defense, racking up 363 total yards compared with Orange Glens 96 yards and four turnovers.

Next, Bishop’s (6-2) hosts Santa Fe Christian (8-1) with the Coastal League title on the line in the final game of the regular season at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. The Knights will go into the game in second place with a 2-0 league record, behind Santa Fe Christians 3-0.

Point Loma 34, La Jolla High 20

Homecoming night Oct. 25 proved disappointing for the Vikings as Point Loma started hot, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to go up 21-0.

La Jolla’s offense got better throughout the game, ending with 371 total yards. Senior quarterback Hudson Smith passed for 206 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. His top receiver was senior Hank Hansen, who scored a touchdown and collected 139 receiving yards. Senior Aidan McGill rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown.

With the Vikings loss and Scripps Ranch’s win Oct. 25, the Falcons clinched the Eastern League title.

La Jolla (6-3) next will host University City (8-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, with second place in the Eastern League on the line.

Army-Navy 21, La Jolla Country Day 20

Having lost four of their previous six games, the Torreys entered their road game against Army-Navy Academy hoping for their first win in Coastal League play this season.

The Warriors had other ideas, though, quickly scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead.

By the second quarter, Country Day’s offense found its rhythm, scoring 20 unanswered points. The Torreys entered the fourth quarter up 20-14 but were unable to hold on.

Country Day (4-5) will try to end the regular season with a win on the road against Francis Parker (4-5) at 7 p.m. Nov. 1.

Boys water polo

La Jolla High

La Jolla, ranked No. 2 in San Diego and among the top 10 in the nation, faced local No. 1 Cathedral Catholic on Oct. 23, and though the Vikings kept the game close, the Dons prevailed 9-6.

It was Cathedral Catholics second victory over the Vikings this season after winning earlier in October, 12-6.

La Jolla bounced back from last weeks loss with a comfortable 9-4 win over Carlsbad on Oct. 25.

This week, the final week of the regular season, La Jolla (16-4) has three games, first at home against Scripps Ranch (10-5) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, then on the road against local rival Bishop’s (14-10) at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and at Vista (7-16) at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

Bishop’s

The Knights went into their three games last week with lots of momentum after winning four times en route to their first Bellarmine Memorial Cup title.

On Oct. 23, Bishop’s routed Coronado 25-10.

Two days later, the Knights traveled to Cathedral Catholic to play Californias No. 3 team for the fourth time this season. The game went as the previous three did, with Bishop’s losing 16-7.

The Knights bounced back the next day at home, beating Vista 18-4.

This week, Bishop’s (14-10) closes out the regular season with a home game against rival La Jolla (16-4), whom the Knights upset two weeks ago, at 5 p.m. Oct. 30.

La Jolla Country Day

Country Day was busy last week, starting with a 14-8 win Oct. 22 at High Tech High.

Later in the week, the Torreys picked up two tournament wins, beating Steele Canyon 15-6 and Mar Vista 14-13.

However, the three-game winning streak ended Oct. 26 with a 12-6 loss to Francis Parker.

Despite having a losing record overall, Country Day sits in first place in the City League with a 4-1 league record. This week, the Torreys (10-12) host league opponent Mira Mesa (5-16) at 4 p.m. Oct. 30 in their last game of the regular season.

Field hockey

Bishop’s

Coming off huge wins over La Jolla and Cathedral Catholic the week before, Bishop’s entered last week as the top field hockey team in San Diego and California and ranked eighth in the nation, according to MaxPreps.

The Knights hoped to protect their rankings in games at University City and at home against Canyon Hills.

Bishop’s took care of business against University City on Oct. 23, winning 6-0. Star freshman and leading scorer Lola Conway had three of the Knights six goals, with the others coming from junior Sabrina Feldman, junior Isabelle Torralba and senior team captain Laine Jeffery.

Two days later, the Knights posted another shutout, 2-0 over Canyon Hills. Conway scored both goals, making her season total 32, the most by any player in the San Diego area.

This week, the last of the regular season, Bishop’s (20-1) travels to Scripps Ranch (14-8) at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 30 before hosting La Jolla Country Day (17-4) at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 1.

La Jolla Country Day

Country Day, entering last week with five consecutive wins (all against Eastern League opponents), had two league games — first on the road vs. Patrick Henry and then at home against Clairemont.

On Oct. 23, the Torreys crushed Patrick Henry 8-0 — their second-largest winning margin of the season (the largest, 10-0, also was against Patrick Henry in September).

Two days later, Country Day shut out Clairemont 2-0 to take its winning streak to seven.

Country Day (17-4) has a 9-0 league record and hopes to close out the regular season strong this week with games at league opponent Mission Bay (3-11) at 4 p.m. Oct. 30 and at local rival Bishop’s (20-1) at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 1.

La Jolla High

Coming off their worst week of the season, in which they had two losses — one against La Jolla rival Bishop’s — the Vikings, the No. 2-ranked team in San Diego and No. 3 in California, hoped to get back on track last week.

First, they hosted San Diegos third-ranked team, Cathedral Catholic, whom the Vikings defeated 2-0 earlier in the season. This time, however, the Dons got the best of La Jolla 2-0 on Oct. 23.

Two days later, the Vikings were able to bounce back with a 2-0 win against University City.

La Jolla (12-5) will end the regular season with a road game against Canyon Hills (15-7) at 4 p.m. Oct. 30.
