The new Trader Joe’s store in Poway is set to open on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

A brief ribbon-cutting will be held before the doors open, company officials said Monday. Store Captain Frank Bennett and Trader Joe’s crew members will be welcoming customers to their new neighborhood store.

After the 8:55 a.m. ceremony, the store will open for business at 9 a.m. Daily operating hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The 10,000-square-foot outlet is at 13644 Poway Road in the Poway City Centre shopping center near Midland and Poway roads.

Trader Joe’s is a national chain of neighborhood grocery stores that sell a variety of domestic and imported products, from staples such as milk, eggs, bread and produce to unique foods and beverages not found anywhere else, such as orange chicken, pumpkin Joe-Joe’s cookies, and brined turkey.

Trader Joe’s was founded in 1967 in the Los Angeles area and has since expanded to more than 560 stores in 42 states and Washington, D.C., company officials said.

The Poway store promises to donate unsold products to a range of nonprofit and community-based organizations.
