CIF San Diego Section Girls Tennis Team Championships

Where: Barnes Tennis Center

Admission: Free. Parking is also free and the snack bar will be open. Northwest Designs, The CIF’s new merchandise sponsor, will be present.

Note: All championship matches feature three singles players and three doubles teams playing round-robin, one-set matches.

Division 2: No. 2 La Jolla vs. No. 1 Steele Canyon

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Courts 15-20

Preview: La Jolla has won 24 section titles, second only to Torrey Pines (31). Steele Canyon is looking to hang its first section championship banner in girls tennis.

Division 3: No. 14 University City vs. No. 4 Clairemont

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Courts 6-10 & 14

Preview: The neighborhood rivals have won one section title between them. Forty years ago, Clairemont won the Division 3 crown.

Open Division: No. 2 Del Norte vs. No. 1 Canyon Crest Academy

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Courts 6-10 & 14

Preview: Canyon Crest Academy is looking for its third Open Division title in the last four years. Del Norte is seeking its first section title. The teams split two league matches, both by 10-8 scores.

Division 1: No. 2 Scripps Ranch vs. No. 1 La Jolla Country Day

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Courts 15-20

Preview: LJCD has won nine section titles, the last in 2013. Scripps Ranch has won one section crown, in 1998.
