The holiday season is just around the corner, and here are some of the ways Point Loma and Ocean Beach will celebrate.

Liberty Station ice rink: The Rady Children’s Ice Rink will be open from Thursday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Jan. 5, outdoors in the Central Promenade at Liberty Station, Point Loma. Normal hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily but are modified on opening day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and for other events. $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and younger and military members. Liberty Station tree lighting: Liberty Stations 88-foot decorated Norfolk pine tree will be lighted, along with live entertainment, firetruck rides, photos with Santa Claus and a showing of the movie The Grinch between 5 and 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, in the North Promenade. Free. bit.ly/40yK8bx

Ocean Beach holiday tree: The annual tradition, dubbed the “crooked tree” because it typically leans to one side, will be on the beach at the end of Newport Avenue from Tuesday, Dec. 3, to Friday, Jan. 3. obcommunityfoundation.org/community-events/tree

Christmas show: The Point Loma Nazarene University Concert Choir, Chorale and Extol vocal ensembles will present the 23rd annual Cider Celebration Christmas show at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, in the university’s Crill Performance Hall, 3900 Lomaland Drive. Christmas Marketplace and Festival: Holiday gift items, craft activities, live music and treats will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at All Souls Episcopal Church, 1475 Catalina Blvd., Point Loma. Santa Experience: Santa Claus with appear at the Ocean Beach holiday tree from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 7, 14 and 21, for photos with visitors. The tree will be at the foot of Newport Avenue at Abbott Street. Free. obcommunityfoundation.org/community-events/tree

Ocean Beach Holiday Parade: The 45th annual parade will begin at sunset Saturday, Dec. 7, on Newport Avenue between Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and Abbott Street. The OB holiday tree will be lighted at 5 p.m. Free. bit.ly/3CpXDlU

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights: The 54th annual parade of decorated boats, themed Peace on Earth this year, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 8 and 15, at Shelter Island. It will travel west past Harbor Island, then south along the Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Cesar Chavez Park before following the Coronado Bridge to the west side of the bay, with the finish line in front of the Coronado Ferry Landing. Ocean Beach Holiday Hoedown & Auction: 4-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at The Harp Irish Pub and Restaurant, 4935 Newport Ave. Proceeds will benefit the Ocean Beach Community Foundations holiday events. OB Holiday Parade prize winners also will be announced. $5-$10. bit.ly/3Z55mPo

Love Thy Neighborhood Joy Drive: This expansion of the Ocean Beach Holiday Food & Toy Drive seeks donations of blankets, candles, soaps, kitchen items, warm clothing, gift certificates, toiletries and gift wrapping for local people in need.
