On Nov. 1, Encinitas native Capri Goldsmith was proposed to by Marshall Hamilton of Rockville, Maryland. The surprise proposal occurred around sunset on Cardiff State Beach right behind Pacific Coast Grill. When asked how the future groom came up with the romantic gesture, Hamilton said, Honestly, the idea popped into my head on a plane ride from Maryland to Colorado. I ran the idea past my future mother-in-law and she was thrilled with the idea. He went on to say in his proposal that hes known since 2022 that one day he was going to ask Capri to be his wife. He knew there was something special about her because she radiated positivity everywhere she went.
As for Goldsmith, Ive grown up my entire life in Encinitas. I love this community and I love the ocean so much. For me to have the love of my life propose to me in my hometown, at the ocean, at sunset, with a sandcastle, its all I could have ever hoped for!Goldsmith attended Bethlehem Lutheran Preschool, Capri Elementary, Diegueno Middle School, and La Costa Canyon High School. She played soccer from first to 12th grade and went on to get a soccer scholarship to a Division 1 NCAA University for womens soccer at Utah Tech University.
Goldsmith, now a wish coordinator for Make-A-Wish Colorado, and Hamilton, a business owner and architect, currently reside in Denver, Colo., but plan to move to San Diego sometime in the next two years. News release
