A 40-year-old man died after falling from the U.S.-Mexico border wall in Otay Mesa early Friday while apparently trying to enter the United States, a San Diego police officer said.

The fatal fall happened in the vicinity of Drucker Lane and Kerns Street just after 6:30 a.m., Officer David O’Brien said. The man died at the scene.

No further information was immediately available.
