Kjay Bradley Jr.s USD debut was something that the San Diego City College transfer will remember forever.

But Wednesdays result? Largely forgettable. Despite Bradleys big night, USD fell to Rider 68-67 at Jenny Craig Pavilion to start the 2024-25 season.

The Toreros led 67-66 with 1:38 remaining but couldnt hold off Rider, which was playing its second game of the season after opening against UCLA. Bradley had a chance to win the game, but his shot rimmed out as time expired.

It was one of the few misses for Bradley on the night. He finished 11 of 19 from the field for a game-high 24 points, showing the scoring ability that made him a NABC California Junior College All-American honors and the Pacific Coast Athletic Conferences Most Valuable Player and Player of the Year at San Diego City College.

San Marcos native Kody Clouet added 13 points and four steals.

The Toreros led by three points at the half but watched as Rider stormed ahead at the midway point of the second half. USD trailed by 8 with 7:52 remaining, only for the Toreros to rally. Bradley Jr. scored six points in less than two minutes to make it a one-point game. Trouet hit a pair of field goals to give USD a one-point lead with less than two minutes left.

Next up: The Toreros (0-1) host Boston University on Friday night.
