Santa Ana winds will return to San Diego County early Tuesday, gusting 20 mph to 25 mph in some areas, mostly east of Interstate 15, the National Weather Service said.
The winds are not expected to be as strong as the gusts that fanned a wildfire last Friday in Fallbrook, causing some residents temporarily to evacuate their homes. But the risk of wildfires remains high — the region hasnt had significant widespread rains in months, leaving vegetation unusually dry.
Tuesdays winds will arrive out of the north-northeast and are likely to be most strongly felt in places like Ramona and Julian and along Interstate 8, east of Alpine.
Forecasters say the winds will weaken on Wednesday, when temperatures briefly warm. But conditions will turn cooler and cloudier as the week goes along, and a low pressure system might bring showers this weekend.
