Cal Fire and Camp Pendleton officials advised residents Thursday that a large plume of smoke visible since Wednesday in North County is a fire on the base that poses no immediate danger to structures.
Camp officials said in a post to X, formerly known as Twitter, that a brush fire had broken out in the Zulu Impact Area on Camp Pendleton on Wednesday. They said at the time that no personnel or structures were threatened.
Cal Fire officials said late Thursday afternoon that – although the smoke was still visible – there was still no threat to surrounding communities.
No further information, including the size of the blaze, was immediately available.
