A 49-year-old woman died when she failed to stop for a red light at an intersection in Scripps Ranch Monday evening and her flatbed truck broadsided another vehicle, San Diego police said.

The crash occurred shortly after 6:05 p.m. at Kearny Villa Road at the northbound state Route 163 off-ramp, north of Kearny Mesa, police said.

A 66-year-old woman driving north on SR-163 in a white 2005 Toyota Highlander entered the left turn lane of the off-ramp and stopped at a red light, police said.

When the light turned green, the Toyota entered the intersection to turn north on Kearny Villa Road and was struck by the woman driving a white 2008 Ford F-450 flatbed truck who failed to stop at the red light, police said. The woman in the truck was taken to a hospital where she died, police said. Her name was not released pending notification of her family.

Police were investigating the collision. DUI was not believed to be a factor, police said.
