18th annual Inclusion Basketball Event held at LCC

The popular 18th annual Inclusion Basketball Event took place Nov. 6 at La Costa Canyon High School. The event allows students in Adapted PE programs across the San Dieguito Union High School District, who typically would not play on a competitive basketball team, the chance to play. The popular 18th annual Inclusion Basketball Event took place Nov. 6 at La Costa Canyon High School.

The event allows students in Adapted PE programs across the San Dieguito Union High School District, who typically would not play on a competitive basketball team, the chance to play. Students in the program put their learned skills into game situations in a fun, safe, and non-competitive environment.

The event also included opening and closing ceremonies, dance performances, awards handed out by cheerleaders/dance team, senior honors, national anthem and more.

Among the schools that attended were La Costa Canyon High School, Torrey Pines High School, Oak Crest Middle School, Diegueno Middle School, Carmel Valley Middle School, and transition students from Coast Academy.

Adapted P. E. Teacher Kasey Galik said appreciation also goes to the LCC Foundation which sponsored pizza for all the participants and volunteers for the event. In addition, Chick-Fil-A in Encinitas came in the cow costume and sponsored 250 gift cards and The Habit in Carlsbad also sponsored gift cards.
